A case from the Talmud: A “planter” ( a man who plants fields and then tends to them) was working for someone but then left him cold turkey. The original agreement was that the planter would get half of all the field’s gains. Now that he is (suddenly) leaving, the field’s owner will have to find a new worker, and that would cause him (the owner) a loss, as he’d have to pay both people (why both? see details in the video). How shall all three parties split the gains between all of them in a way that will satisfy everyone? Using math and holiness, the Talmud finds some excellent solutions for this predicament. Watch and see for yourself!
