BSD Renewed agreements in Halacha. A person borrowed an item (for free) but after the loan term was over the agreement changed, stating that for the next period money will be given. In other words, his status changed from a borrower (sho’el) to a renter (socher). Do we view it as one long agreement with a seamless change in the middle, or do we view it as a whole new agreement? The difference will show in case of “Baalav Imo”. If the first period started off with a “Baalav Imo” exemption, does that exemption still apply for the second period or not?
