Yomim Noraim 5781 Update

Due to the government indoor capacity limitations, the Ahavas Shalom Vaad has secured a second location to use for our membership during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The location is the hall in Motzi Mayim (MM) which is immediately adjacent to our Beis Medrash. We hope to have four sections in this hall capable of seating almost 80 people in comfort. Many women will be assigned to this hall, but if any of the men would like to sit in this hall alone or with their children, please advise a vaad member.

In order to make the services in the main Beis Medrash proceed without delay, we plan to have an online pre-auction of the aliyos. Each member has the opportunity to submit his highest bid for an Aliyah. On Thursday morning at 11:30 we will determine the highest bid for each Aliyah, and on each day of Rosh Hashanah we will offer one more opportunity to bid, in a live auction with a starting bid 100nis higher than the highest online bid. To submit your bid, please go to ahavasshalom.org/5781auction/. (Due to the limited number of men in the MM minyon, we do not plan to have an online auction there, and instead will only have a short live auction.)

The shofar will not be blown on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. On the second day, we are NOT announcing the time of the blowing, and will only blow inside for the people who are already inside. Guests will not be permitted entry into the Beis Medrash. Instead we will offer two public shofar blowings outside the Beis Medrash at 12:50 (after the completion of the entire morning davening) and 17:40 (before the second Mincha).

Due to the increased expenses this year, you must pay for your seat before the start of Rosh Hashanah. We have several convenient methods of doing this:

Seat pricing for members and dependent family members is as follows:

  • Beis Medrash: 250 for first seat, 150 for relative sitting adjacent to first seat.
  • Motzi Mayim: 200 for first seat, 100 for relative sitting adjacent to first seat.

Seating is currently not available for non-members and non-dependent family members. If such seating becomes available, there will be a surcharge of 200nis per seat to the above prices for non-members and 100nis per seat for non-dependent family members.
